We enter into relationship with God as individuals. In so doing, we enter into something greater than our own individuality -- we enter into the body of Christ, the church. Our relationships with other believers are a tremendous source of blessing, for ourselves and for others. God does not intend for us to live the Christian life alone. Instead, He gives us the privilege of taking the journey of faith together.

One of the primary means of building relationship, cultivating fellowship, and growing in discipleship at Easley First Baptist is through our small group ministries -- especially in Sunday School. Within those Sunday School small groups, we encourage the development of Care Groups.

The purpose of Care Groups is to:

1. Apply God's word. Merely hearing God's word is insufficient; we must apply it to our lives for transformation to occur. Care Groups seek to apply the Bible's teaching, review Sunday messages, discuss Christian books and thought, and practice spiritual disciplines with the intention of growing toward a mature, active faith in Jesus Christ. Care Groups hold each member accountable for intentionally participating in the journey of faith.

2. Pursue Biblical fellowship. Genuine fellowship isn't practical in a large crowd. Care Groups provide a place where we can build intimate relationships, care for one another, and encourage one another to love and good deeds -- thus, helping each other grow in our relationships with God and others. Care Groups meet both inside and outside the church building.

3. Minister to one another. Care Groups provide a context where we can minister to each other with the gifts that God has given us. Care Group time includes time to pray for one another and opportunity to exercise our spiritual gifts for the edification of others.
