The Guest Guide to Adult Sunday School  

  Bringing Our Lives Under The  Lordship of Christ

The following list of classes is designed to help you get a feel for where you might best fit in to one of our small groups during Sunday School. When we focus on bringing our lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we realize that we grow in community. Our small group ministries through Sunday School are designed to provide you will a safe, loving place where you can seek God's Spirit and purpose in Christian community. Feel free to visit several classes. Sunday School begins each Sunday at 9:00am. Stop by the church welcome center for assistance in locating the class of your choice.

Career Class

Bert Henderson and Tom Garrett

The Career Class is made up of career men and women, mostly in their twenties and thirties, who are interested in growing together as disciples. This class loves to have fun together. They use Formations Sunday School literature and are considering several exciting mission projects.


Singles Class

Steve & Teressa Lambright

The Singles class is a brand new class focusing on Bible Study and discipleship. Singles love to get together for fellowship, ministry, and missions projects as well. The class uses Formations Sunday School literature. 


Young Families Class

Stan & Donna Yarborough and Andy & Dawn Hooker

The Young Families class is an energetic community of couples ranging from 20-40, who may have elementary age children. The Young Families Class is involved in numerous ministries of Easley First Baptist, including: Operation Christmas Child, Extended Teaching Care, Vacation Bible School, deacons, and choirs. They have active InReach, OutReach, Missions, and Crisis Committees. The class plans fellowships about once a month: Boys, Girls, and Couples Nights Out, and family outings to the lake. The Young Families class uses special book studies and occasionally uses Formations Sunday School literature. 


The Discipleship Class

Greg Ford

Greg's class is involved in various ministries around the church, including: adopting a family at Christmas; providing financial support for Basketball Camp; and serving in our Children's Ministry. This loving community of couples varies in age from 30-50. Children of these couples vary in age from elementary to high school. The class uses Formations Sunday School curriculum and occasionally adopts a special book study.


 The Helping Hands Class

Tim Hiott

Tim’s Sunday School class is a fun and inviting group, ranging in age from 35-50. Children of these couples vary in age from elementary to college. Tim uses the Formations Sunday School curriculum. The class is involved in several ministries, including Bread of Life Ministries.


The Fresh Spirit Class

The couples in this dynamic community are in the 45-55 age range. Their children are either teens or are grown and out of the house. They use Formations curriculum and frequently adopt special book studies. Fresh Spirit is involved in various ministries throughout the church, especially United Christian Ministries and Meals on Wheels.

Sunday Mornings

Owen Robertson

Sunday Mornings is a multi-generational group committed to (1) learning life lessons from the stories of God and (2) growing new Sunday School classes. Our intention is to find ourselves in the story of God; therefore, we are currently focusing on the primary stories and teachings of the Bible. This is a discussion-based class that uses multiple versions of the Bible as a leaping off point. Sunday Mornings is a new class that desires to double by January 2012.


The Gwen McCall Class

Ace Bowie

This is a relatively new class of couples. If you’re interested in joining a new, growing community, this may be the place for you. The class studies Formations Sunday School literature with an open discussion format. The age range for this class is typically 50-65.


The Thelma Moorhead Class

Mac and Patty Lawton

This loving small group is interested in Bible Study that utilizes directed discussion and class participation. The couples in this small group have a great time studying and serving together. They study Formations curriculum and are active in ministries throughout the church, especially SHINE, Basketball Camp, and 567 Club. The couples in this class are in their 50s and 60s.


The Couples Serving Christ Class

Don Jones

Couples Serving Christ is a class you’ll continually hear about. The members of this community are constantly talking about their desire to study the Bible – they cannot wait for 9:00 on Sunday morning. The couples in this class are generally 55 and above. They use Formations curriculum, but frequently adopt special book studies. They are involved in ministries such as SHINE and Meals on Wheels.    


The Marion Moorhead Class

Doyle Kay

The Marion Moorhead class is a fun, welcoming community of couples 55 and above. They study Formations Sunday School curriculum and are involved in a large variety of ministries inside and outside the church, including SHINE, Basketball Camp, and special needs outreach projects.


The Seekers Class

Dan Smith

The Seekers Class loves to get into discussions about their lessons. They use Formations Sunday School literature and occasionally adopt special studies. Class members are involved in multiple ministries: Meals on Wheels, SHINE, Hospice Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Hospital Visitation, Meals to Shut-ins, and the Church Visitation program. Members of this small group are generally 50 and above.


The Concepts Class

Evelyn McCollum

The Concepts Class focuses on reading through and discussing the Bible. In September, this class will begin reading through the New Testament, starting with Acts. Members in the class are involved in providing Christmas for the needy, Meals on Wheels, Hospital volunteers, etc. Couples in this community range in age from 50-70.

 


The E.R. Eller Class

Talmadge Hamlin and Rod Lewis

E.R. Eller is a men’s class, varying in age from 45-80. The class uses Life Ventures curriculum and is involved in many ministries of the church, including Prison Ministry, Helping the Needy, and 567 Club.


The R.C. McCall Class

Milton Ponder and Ben Chreitzberg

R.C. McCall is a men’s class, varying in age from 75-85. The class uses Life Ventures curriculum and is involved in ministries throughout the church, especially the Davis Benevolent Fund and SHINE.


The Freeman Class

Melba Eason and Fran Pfadenhauer

The Freeman Class is a lady’s class, varying in age from 70-85. The class uses Life Ventures curriculum. Each Fall, the class members participate in an indepth Bible study in a retreat setting, studying topics of great interest to them (The Names of God, Daniel, Revelation, Discipleship, & Aspects of Worship). The Freeman class is involved in the Hospice Thrift Shop, Nursing Home Ministries, and United Christian Ministries.


The Elizabeth Class

Cindy Hunter

The Elizabeth Class is a lady’s class, 55 and above. They study Life Ventures curriculum and are active in various ministries of the church, including 567 Club and Joyce Smith Ministry. This class is currently studying Beth Moore’s “Daniel.”

The Philathea Class

Gwen McCall and Joyce Jenkins

The Philathea Class is a lady’s class, typically ranging from 70-80. The class studies Life Ventures curriculum and is involved in Meals on Wheels, Samaritan Alliance, and United Christian Ministries.


The Fidelis Class

Alvilda Dickerson

The Fidelis Class is a vibrant class for ladies 80 and above. The class uses Life Ventures curriculum. The ladies in this class form a close, loving, supportive community. They really know how to do Sunday School.


The Coley Cleveland Class

Hubert Bishop, Jr. and Joel Jenkins

Coley Cleveland is a time-honored class for men 80 and above. They use Life Ventures curriculum and assist with ministries such as Meals on Wheels.
