The Guest Guide to Adult Sunday School  

  Bringing Our Lives Under The  Lordship of Christ

The following list of classes is designed to help you get a feel for where you might best fit in to one of our small groups during Sunday School. When we focus on bringing our lives under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we realize that we grow in community. Our small group ministries through Sunday School are designed to provide you will a safe, loving place where you can seek God's Spirit and purpose in Christian community. Feel free to visit several classes. Sunday School begins each Sunday at 9:00am. Stop by the church welcome center for assistance in locating the class of your choice.

The College Class is taught by Barry & Ann-Summers Sudduth. Members of this class are usually 18-24 years old. The class attempts to cater its lessons to topics relevant to college students. The College Class meets on the second floor of the education wing in room 206. Special luncheons are prepared for our college students once a month.

The Career Class is a brand new class taught by Bert Henderson (IPTAY director) and Tom Garrett. This class is made up of career men and women in their twenties and thirties who are interested in growing together as disciples. They are considering several exciting mission projects. The Career Class meets in one of the scout rooms under the Family Life Center.

The Young Families Class is taught by Bryan & Lisa Boone, Kevin & Julia Kay, and Don & Patti Marler. The general age range for couples in this class is 20-35. Couples in this class may have Elementary age children. The class uses Formations Sunday School literature and occasionally adopts a special book study -- such as DNA of Relationships; 5 Love Languages; What's So Amazing About Grace; and Don't All Religions Lead to God? The Young Families Class is involved in various ministries of Easley First Baptist, including adopting a child at Christmas. The have fellowships once a quarter such as Boys Night Out, Girls Night Out, Couples Night Out, and various family outings. The class meets in A/B B106, which is located on the bottom floor under the children's wing.

John Lewis' Sunday School class is made up of couples in their mid thirties to mid forties. Children of these couples vary in age from elementary to high school. The class uses Lifeway's Advance Bible Study curriculum. The class meets in C/D B106, which is located on the bottom floor under the children's wing.

Greg Ford's Sunday School class is made up of couples varying in age from 30-50. Children of these couples vary in age from elementary to high school. The class uses Smyth & Helwys' Formations curriculum. They occasionally adopt a special book study -- such as What's So Amazing About Grace, The Jesus I Never Knew, and Running the Rapids (for parents of teens).

Greg's class is involved in various ministries around the church, including: adopt a family at Christmas and providing financial support for Basketball Camp and our Children's Ministry. The class meets in Room 207, located on the second floor of the education wing.

Tim Hiott's Sunday School class ranges in ages from 35-50. Children of these couples vary in ages. Tim teaches out of Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum. They are involved in Bread of Life Ministries. Tim's class is about to move to one of our new Sunday School classrooms.

The Befrienders class is taught by Charlotte Myers and Marianne Dalton. This is a ladies class that focuses on in-depth Bible Study. They are currently using Lifeway's Master Works curriculum, but from time to time focus on special studies -- such as Beth Moore's books. This class meets in B105, located under the children's wing.

The Fresh Spirit class is taught by Randy Wingo and Nancy Couch. The couples in this class are in the 45-55 age range. Their children are either teens or are grown and out of the house. They use Smyth & Helwys' Formations curriculum and occasionally adopt a special book study. They are involved in various ministries throughout the church, especially United Christian Ministries and Meals on Wheels. The class meets in Room 219, located on the second floor of the education wing.

The Thelma Moorhead Class is currently being taught by Mac and Patty Lawton. The couples in this class are in their 50s and 60s. They study Smyth & Helwys' Formations curriculum. They are active in ministries throughout the church, especially SHINE, Basketball Camp, and 567 Club. The class meets in Room 203, located on the second floor of the education wing.

The Couples Serving Christ class is taught by Don Jones. The couples in this class are 55 and above. They usually use the Smyth & Helwys Formations curriculum; however, they are currently studying the book of Revelation. They are involved in ministries such as SHINE and Meals on Wheels. They meet in Room 204, located on the second floor of the education wing.

The Marion Moorhead Class is taught by Doyle Kay. The couples in this class are 55 and above. They study Smyth & Helwys' Formations curriculum. The class is involved in a variety of ministries around the church, including SHINE. They meet in Room 201, located on the second floor of the education wing.

The Seekers class is taught by Dan Smith. Members of this class are generally 50 and above. They study Smyth & Helwys' Formations curriculum. Class members are involved in the following ministries: Meals on Wheels, SHINE, Hospice Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Hospital Visitation, Meals to Shut-ins, Church Visitation program, and Bread for Guests.

The Concepts class is taught by Evelyn McCollum. Couples in this class range in age from 50-70. The class focuses on reading through and discussing the Bible. Members in the class are involved in providing Christmas for the needy, Meals on Wheels, Hospital visitation, etc. The class meets in Room 202, located on the second floor of the education wing.

The E.R. Eller class is taught by Talmadge Hamlin and Rod Lewis. The men in this class vary in age from 45-80. The class uses Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum. They are involved in many minstries of the church, including Prison Ministry, Helping the Needy, and 567 Club. The class meets in one of the scout rooms under the Family Life Center.

The R.C. McCall class is taught by Don Garrison and Ben Chreitzberg. The men in this class vary in age from 75-85. The class uses Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum. They are involved in ministries throughout the church, especially the Davis Benevolent Fund. The class meets in C/D B107, located beneath the children's wing.

The Freeman Class is taught by Melba Eason and Fran Pfadenhauer. The ladies in this class vary in age from 70-85. The class uses Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum. Each Fall, the class members participate in an indepth Bible study in a retreat setting, studying topics of great interest to them (The names of God, Daniel, Revelation, discipleship, aspects of worship). The Freeman class is involved in the Hospice Thrift Shop, Nursing Home Ministries, and United Christian Ministries. The class meets in G/H B107, located beneath the children's wing.

The Elizabeth Class class is taught by Cindy Hunter. The ladies in this class are 55 and above. They study Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum and are active in various ministries of the church, including 567 Club and Joyce Smith Ministry. The class meets in F B105, located under the children's wing.

The Philathea class is taught by Gwen McCall and Alvilda Dickerson. The ladies in this class typically range from 70-80. The class studies Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum and are involved in Meals on Wheels, Samaritan Agency, and United Christian Ministries. The class meets in the Lower Narthex, bottom floor.

The Fidelis class is taught by Ramona Lewis. The ladies in this class are 80 and above. The class uses Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum. They meet in Room 112 Suite C, on the main floor near the sanctuary.

The Coley Cleveland class is taught by Lloyd Batson. The men in this class are 80 and above. The class uses Lifeway's Life Ventures curriculum and assist with Meals on Wheels. They meet in the Chapel Wing, on the main floor beside the chapel.
