Journey Through Bethlehem

The Birth Announcement – Gabriel’s visit to Mary

The Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary, a virgin engaged to Joseph, that she was to conceive and bear a child and His name was to be Jesus.

Studying the Prophecies

The study of ancient prophecies pointed Wise Men to Bethlehem where they could worship the newborn child and present gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

On the Road to Bethlehem

Because of the census ordered by Caesar Augustus, Mary and Joseph were required to make the 10-day trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Joseph’s ancestral village, on the back of a donkey.

Bethlehem Inn

Because of the crowds that had arrived in Bethlehem for the census, there was no room for Mary and Joseph in the inn.

The Holy Family

Even though there was no guest room available, God provided a warm, safe stable in which His son was born.

Shepherds in the Fields

Considered to be on the bottom of the social ladder, shepherds were the first to receive the angelic announcement that God’s son had been born in Bethlehem. “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill to men.”

Nativity

The gift of gifts was given to demonstrate God’s great love. In a small obscure village named Bethlehem “she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Cross and the Tomb

At first Bethlehem seems so far from Calvary, but the truth is that God’s purpose in sending Jesus, by way of Bethlehem, was so that He would one day climb the steep hill of Calvary to assure our forgiveness through his death and resurrection.

Prayer Station

John Adams, our pastor, and a team of volunteers are available to speak and pray with anyone who wishes.
