Day 4

Our day began a little later than normal since the show at the Sight and Sound Theatre did not begin until 11:00. We had a slower morning and enjoyed fellowship at breakfast. We had our luggage down at the bus at 9:15 and circled in the lobby of the hotel at 9:30 for our prayer time.

We sang our blessing song, “May a song remain within us,“ to the hotel staff before we left. We arrived around 50 minutes before the show started. This gave us some time to shop in the lobby and buy some delicious roasted almonds.

The show we saw was “Noah.“ It was a feast for the eyes and the ears and the heart. The retailing of the story of Noah had some fictional enhancements, but added tremendously to the experience. It is difficult to describe the scene of all the animals inside the ark when the second act began. They used live animals in the show, like horses, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, llamas, camels, doves, rabbits, dogs, etc. but the impact at the end was one of the most powerful gospel presentations we had ever seen. All along the way hints had been dropped of how the story of Noah parallel God‘s plan for redemption. At the end when the ark was transformed into a cross and a doorway opened in the cross and Christ invited all in attendance to follow him, it was hard not to be moved to tears. They built up the closing of the door on the ark earlier in the presentation when people were locked outside, and the door of the ark was closed and could not be undone. We kind of expected that the door would come back and boy did it! It was a strong evangelistic message.

After leaving the theater, we drove to a place where we could choose between McDonald’s or Wawa for lunch. Most of us opted for McDonald’s. After leaving McDonald’s, we stopped by Valley Forge on the way to Philadelphia for a brief stop. We had a chance to look around the visitor center, and then we watched a 20-minute film of George Washington’s encampment at Valley Forge.

We arrived at the Salvation Army, Roxborough Corps at 5:30 PM. We unloaded the large amount of hygiene supplies that the church contributed to support a new personal hygiene closet that the core is creating. After unloading the supplies, we moved up to their chapel and led a worship time at from 6:00-6:45. We enjoyed refreshments and fellowship for a few minutes following the worship time and then headed across town to the Cheesecake Factory for supper. We had a great time at cheesecake factory. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was 10 PM.

The group was exhausted so we were dropped off at the hotel and got checked in. We were thankful for a beautiful day, of fellowship, inspiration, and ministry.
