Day 7

Although we were excited about the puffin cruise, when we woke with the cool temperatures on Friday, June 17, we were partially relieved that we would be on a shorter 2-hour harbor cruise rather than a 3 1/2 hour puffin cruise.

After breakfast at the hotel, we made our way on foot to the dock of the Acadian nature cruise. Our cruise began at 10 o’clock and we had the opportunity to view beautiful homes along the coast as well as sea birds, seals, etc. It was cool but we were all prepared with warm dress and had a great time. When we returned to Bar Harbor at noon, we divided up and everyone found places to enjoy lunch. At 2 o’clock we met our step-on guide in Agamaite Park. Diana boarded the bus and took us into Acadia National Park. She was an exceptionally interesting and articulate guide for this trip. Acadia National Park is the smallest of all the parks but one of the busiest as well. It was beautiful! We learned much about the history and ended our three hour tour on the top of Cadillac Mountain. Cadillac Mountain gave a beautiful panoramic view of a harbor, Frenchman’s Bay, the Porcupine Islands, and the Atlantic. There was a great deal of fog, or sea smoke, that obscured some of the view but it was beautiful nevertheless. We returned to Bar Harbor and enjoyed our evening meal on our own. After we returned to our hotel, our devotion was led by Andrew Robertson and was based on the anthem “O love.“ This anthem was used in Andrew and Abby‘s wedding. Andrew did a beautiful job talking about how God‘s love is something that never changes and is always there for us regardless of our circumstances.
