Today marked our departure from Boston as we headed out of the city to Peterborough, New Hampshire. We loaded the buses, read our Tour Creed, said our goodbyes, and headed northwest toward New Hampshire. We arrived in Peterborough and found it to be a small, beautiful, picturesque city full of quaint shops and nice restaurants. We spent about two and a half hours and ate lunch and also visited with several of the shop owners and local residents. We ran into a family from Beaufort, South Carolina who also owned a home in Peterborough. We left Peterborough at 1:30 and continued our journey to Brattleboro, Vermont. Brattleboro was a little larger than Peterborough and had more businesses downtown. We spent about an hour and a half in Brattleboro before departing for Keene, New Hampshire. Keene was a much larger town than the first two villages we visited. As we arrived at United Church of Christ in Keene, there was a large Flag Day celebration going on in Town Square. As we unloaded and entered the beautiful church, a few of our people went into Town Square and visited with some of the locals. Tina Corn invited a young woman to join us for the concert, which she did. After rehearsing in the sanctuary for about 30 minutes, we went downstairs where the ladies of the church had prepared a sandwich buffet for our group. We had a wonderful fellowship with them and sang our blessing to them before we ate. The concert began at 7 PM and lasted a little longer than we intended. They had no air-conditioning in the church and although the weather had been beautiful all day, it was warm inside the church. We had a couple of people that were not able to sing with us since they weren’t feeling well. From what they said the crowd we had was really a very good crowd. It was the first concert or choral music program they have had at their church since the beginning of Covid. After church we spent some time talking to those who attended and had some wonderful fellowship. We boarded the bus with all the leftover desserts the church prepared and made our way to a very comfortable hotel in Keene. Our devotion, based on our anthem “Blessings,” was led by Andrea OShields, who did a wonderful job leading us to consider how the trials of life sometimes can be blessings in disguise. It was a terrific day in a beautiful part of the country. We are truly blessed!
