Day 11

This morning, the group found it difficult to say goodbye to this beautiful New England weather. Many of us crossed the street from our hotel to walk on the beach for the last time.

The temperature was probably 72° and sunny. After breakfast, we began loading the bus at 10:30 and pulled out of our hotel at 10:50 headed for Boston Logan international airport. We read our creed on the bus, had prayer, and said goodbye to Scott, our bus driver. We gave him his check and expressed our appreciation for his commitment and friendship this week. When we arrived at the airport, it was very easy to line up for our tickets back to Charlotte. The security check went very well, and our group ate lunch in various restaurants in the airport before boarding our flight, American Airlines 1380, back to Charlotte. We can only guess what real summer is going to feel like when we get home.

Our flight was delayed about 30 minutes, but we took off around 1:45 p.m. The flight to Charlotte went well and we arrived about 4 o’clock. We had no problems connecting with our new Ionosphere bus for our drive back to Easley. Our driver, Barbie, managed the traffic well in Charlotte and we were on I-85 before we knew it. About 40 minutes outside of Easley, Rick Baumgarner led our final devotion, based on the anthem “An Expression of Gratitude.“ Rick invited choir members to express things for which they were grateful. Many of our group shared memories of this week and expressed gratitude for our shared ministry in the sanctuary choir. We all realize God is not finished with us yet and pray that he will continue to use each of us in the ongoing ministry of First Baptist Church. We arrived in Easley about 6:40 and were greeted by several family members and our “pastor and friend,” John Adams. What a fabulous week we experienced. Thank you to everyone who prayed for us and supported this ministry. You were a part of our outreach in New England this week!
